About this Model: The Skyblazers were formed in 1948 and carried on through to 1962. The team would receive official status as a team in 1950 and were originally from the 22nd Fighter Bomber Squadron which was part of the 36th Fighter Bomber Group. They were equipped with four F-80Bs Shooting Stars and were stationed at Furstenfeldbruck, West Germany. The entire Wing began to transition to the F-86F Sabre during 1953. HQ USAFE decided that they wished to have the team transferred to the 48th Fighter Wing which meant that the 86th FW Skyblazers flew their last F-84E equipped airshow during July 1953. |
