About this Model: During the 2003 invasion of Iraq, while flying a ground support mission over Baghdad, USAF Capt. Kim "Killer Chick" Campbell's Thunderbolt II suffered extensive flak damage that destroyed the hydraulic system. Despite this, Campbell flew the aircraft for an hour and landed it safety at the air base in manual reversion mode (flying the aircraft without hydraulics), making her one of the few pilots to ever land the A-10 in manual mode. For this action in aerial combat she was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross.
Made by Hobby Master, this incredibly detailed, 1/72 scale, die cast model of Campbell's shark-mouth Thunderbolt II features an intricate cockpit with an opening canopy; finely replicated turbofan blades; removable armament, including Sidewinder missiles, laser-guided bombs, mine dispensing munitions and more; optional-position landing gear; and authentic 75th Fighter Squadron markings. 9½" wingspan; includes a display stand. |
